How to Learn Speaking English

Introduction

When I was at elementary school I started learning English. In your country English at elementary school may be available but it was not the same in my country. My homeland was and still is a war-torn country in which education could be never available for kids. It’s Afghanistan. 

Anyway, when I first started learning English alphabets, I was asking the teacher. What is English? He explained to me saying it’s a language, I was just a kid, I could not clearly think what it really was.

Later on, I became a huge fan of this language, I just loved it. I started to learn more by taking more courses. One of the courses that I took was Azrakhsh Educational Center, it was a well-known English course at that time. It took me like a year. Six days a week, 2 hours a day. Like 700 hours a year. If my math is correct. Almost always I ranked first in the classes 

Then I came to Turkey to study my bachelor degree in civil engineering in 2013. Luckily, the language of instruction was in English. It helped me a lot in learning the English language. But I believe my English language got better when I started reading books. Yeah, reading really changed my life. You learn a language when you can think in that language. Because reading improves your thinking skill. I think this is important to understand. Reading makes your mind think in that language.

Because you may not be able to understand a language well unless you can think in that language. Like analyzing the concepts written or said in that language. 

I believe knowing the English language helped me for the betterment of my understanding. Why I said that is because through this language I could read many books. You can find almost anything in English. You may not be able to find any kind of information you want in your native language but you can find it in English.

I have a framework for you to learn this language. First, there is a purpose behind learning any language. You can learn almost everything if you have a strong purpose behind it. Whether you wanna travel around the world, or move to an English speaking country, or maybe you wanna become a teacher like I wanted when I was a kid.

The question is how to learn English?

I wanna tell you something. Are you ready? The internet is a powerful tool. It is a tool that you can either use for your benefits or not. And is something that you do not even need to go to university. Internet has almost everything inside. Use it for empowering and developing new skills. Beside all the knowledge that you can acquire from this tool, you can learn English by finding friends to practice your speaking skill. You can even find someone whose native language is English. Also it’s Okay to practice English with a non-native. 

There are a lot of resources for you to use. Some are free to use and some are not. Busuu, Duolingo, Babbel are a few of them. I’ll share their links in the description section of this video. 

The other way is to practice. Just record a video of you talking about your favorite topics, then share it on social media. If you really dare to learn something you must take the necessary steps to get it. As you can see my English is not that good, but anyway I open my camera and record myself talking to the camera. It may not be easy but when you get to go, you must go. It may be difficult in the beginning. By the time everything will get smoother.
